Impact 100 Grant Writing Workshop

Whether you are a new grant writer or have many years of experience, this workshop could be an important step in completing your Impact 100 grant application. New grant writers will learn about a comprehensive process for delivering a meaningful, competitive grant application. Experienced grant writers may share strategies that have worked for them and pick up pointers to enhance their approaches.

We’ll discuss the nuts and bolts of drafting a competitive proposal, including:

  • Who should be involved
  • Demonstrating need and positioning research in your proposal
  • The project description
  • Goal and outcomes, and how to measure the impact
  • Sustainability
  • Organizational information
  • Creating a realistic budget
  • The executive summary

We’ll also talk about what happens after the proposal is submitted, including how to conduct a site visit and the best way to receive feedback.

Session Facilitator:

Elizabeth Locke has over 25 years of experience as a librarian and nonprofit consultant focusing on fundraising. In her most recent role as Branch Manager for the Palm Beach County Library System, she was instrumental in securing grant funding as well as developing the library’s nonprofit collection. Liz presented monthly workshops on funder research, proposal writing, prospect research, board development, and other topics to help strengthen the local nonprofit community. She has served on the boards of several nonprofits, was a founding member of Impact 100 Palm Beach County, and chaired the Grants Committee for three years. She recently moved to Vero Beach with her husband and is a new Impact 100 Indian River County member.
